Stone processing is one of the most demanding compressed air environments in any workshop because of how many points in the process air and water are in direct contact with the finished product. Insufficient systems can result in stained surfaces, compromised finishes, and rework on high-value stone that has no margin for error. A refrigerated air dryer with pre- and post-filtration is non-negotiable in stone processing.
While oil has no place in the finishing air line where it contacts the stone surface, it’s essential at the tool outlet. Hand tools including polishers, sanders, angle grinders, and finishers all run off compressed air, with each outlet requiring its own filter regulator lubricator (FRL) to regulate tool pressure at 90–100 PSI and introduce a controlled oil drip to keep pneumatic tools running smoothly.
Water supply is equally intricate: wet cutting tools often use a recycled water system to process, clean, and return water to the lines.
