Rotary Screw Compressor
Common Faults
(SB SERIES oNLY)

NOTE: turn off power to the compressor for all of these resolves. Leaving the compressor on can result in serious injury

Motor TH Switch

Cause – Power surge or excess amperage draw by a motor causing safety to trip

Remedy:

  1. Turn all power off to the compressor 
  2. Turn the red isolation switch to the off position on the compressor and open the front doors
  3. Search for a motor contactor with a red and blue button. Press the red and blue buttons for 1s.
  4. Shut the cabinet and switch the red isolator to the on position.
  5. Turn the power on and start the machine.

Fan TH Switch

Cause – Power surge or excess amperage draw by fan motor causing safety to trip

Remedy:

  1. Turn all power off to the compressor 
  2. Turn the red isolation switch to the off position on the compressor and open the front doors
  3. Search for fan contactor with a switch pointing to “TRIPPED”.
  4. Turn the switch to the “OFF” position and then turn it to the “ON” position.
  5. Shut the cabinet and switch the red isolator to the on position.
  6. Turn the power on and start the machine.

Emergency Stop

Cause – The emergency stop button has been pressed. In dusty environments, this is difficult to clear.

Remedy:

  1. Release the Emergency Stop button by twisting gently to the right
  2. Press the “F” button on the controller
  3. Start the compressor using the green start button. If “Emergency Stop” still showing and the compressor will not start, proceed to step 4.
  4. Press and release the emergency stop button 10 times.
  5. Press the “F” button on the controller
  6. Start the compressor using the green start button. If “Emergency Stop” still showing and the compressor won’t start, proceed to step 7.
  7. Press and release the emergency stop button 20 times.
  8. Press the “F” button on the controller
  9. Start the compressor using the green start button. If “Emergency Stop” still showing and the compressor won’t start, Call Focus Industrial Service Centre on 1800 056 529

AC Phase Error

Cause – Loss of 1 or more phases in the compressor power supply or loose connection.

Remedy:

  1. Call the electrician to inspect the incoming power supply into the air compressor and check for a dropped phase in the building or loose wire in the power supply or compressor internals.

High Oil Temp

Cause – Oil exceeded temperature limit. The compressor may be due for service.

Remedy:

  1. Blow out the oil cooler on top of the machine using a compressed air blow gun. This is usually full of dust
  2. Press the “F” button to reset the fault. Start the compressor.
  3. Monitor the compressor temperature on the home screen for 20 minutes and ensure the temperature does not rise above 90 degrees. If the temperature exceeds 85 degrees, call Focus Industrial on 1800 056 529 to book a service call out.
