Efficient Air Compressor Upgrade for Activ Pharmaceuticals

Focus Industrial recently completed an energy-efficient compressed air upgrade for Activ Pharmaceuticals, a leading pharmaceutical production facility in Smeaton Grange, Sydney. This upgrade provides Activ Pharmaceuticals with significant energy savings, reduced maintenance costs, improved air quality, and a fully redundant compressed air system tailored to the rigorous demands of the pharmaceutical industry.

Previously relying on a single 22kW compressor that required frequent oil top-ups and costly repairs, Activ Pharmaceuticals sought a solution that would reduce power consumption, enhance reliability, and provide system redundancy. Focus Industrial supplied and installed two advanced SB200-50D Screw Compressors, each tank-mounted with integrated dryers and capable of delivering 10-bar pressure. These Italian-made, 15kW (20hp) compressors, fitted with 500-litre tanks, ensure consistent, efficient air delivery across the facility.

To meet the strict air quality standards required for pharmaceutical production, Focus Industrial included a robust filtration setup with FHO-80A filter housings and high-performance 0.01-micron coalescing and activated carbon filters. These filters capture impurities, maintaining a clean and safe compressed air supply vital for Activ Pharmaceuticals’ production processes.

The system installation included stainless steel piping, expertly routed from the mezzanine floor to the main production area, ensuring seamless air distribution. To complete the installation with minimal disruption, Focus utilised specialist lifting equipment, enabling precise placement and installation without impacting daily operations.
