Our service technician Ray visited a furniture manufacturing site for regular screw compressor servicing, checking their two screw compressors for optimal performance and reliability.
Furniture manufacturing warehouses and timber joineries are particularly prone to compressors becoming covered inside and out due to sawdust accumulation. With fine particles flying through the air day in and day out and the volume of air being sucked into the compressors, they quickly collect debris that can impact compressor performance. If not regularly maintained and cleaned the intake filters and cabinet filters become clogged with dust reducing the airflow and causing the compressor to run much harder. The cooler also becomes blocked with the dust which compromises the cooling of the oil within the compressor meaning overheats are common. If this continues repeatedly, the thermostatic valve begins to fail and the oil begins to varnish on the inside of the cooler causing long term damage that can’t be seen from the outside. This enhances the importance of keeping on top of the maintenance of the compressor especially if in a dusty environment. First and foremost the best option is to relocate the compressor to a dust free area.
Using the compressed air stored in the air receiver, Ray, one of Focus Industrials service technicians, blasts the exterior and interior of the screw compressors, removing sawdust that hinders their functionality. For any screw compressor to work effectively, it needs to be able to freely take in and release air with minimal blockage.
Does your worksite have a lot of sawdust or other fine particles floating around? Consider how this may affect your screw compressor’s health. Working with Focus Industrial means your screw compressor servicing never skips these important cleaning steps!
